The Avogadro Meetings started in 2005 as an occasion for young theorists, active in String Theory and related subjects, to gather and share their ideas and results in an informal atmosphere. The meeting series received its name after the University of Piemonte Orientale that hosted its first three editions.
Nonlinear wave equations will bring together experts which have in common the study of the propagation of nonlinear waves in various active fields of research: fluid dynamics, Schrödinger and wave equations, kinetic equations and general relativity.
An enormous international activity is devoted to the description of waves in connection with non trivial nonlinear phenomena: anomalous scattering in water wave dynamics, stability of non trivial structures like vortex filaments or solitary waves, propagation of waves on curved background in relativity, singularity formation and energy concentration in parabolic and dispersive models, etc.
The conference will aim at presenting some recent developments in these domains which are in particular at the heart of the ANR SWAP and the ERC senior project BLOWDISOL that partially support the conference. The aim will be in particular to stimulate discussions between experts and build bridges between their works.
The main objective of 2-Day OTCA 2013 is to bring together researchers working in different areas of Mathematics, namely Operator Theory, Complex Analysis and related fields, with a particular emphasis in Mathematical Physics, and to create an opportunity to highlight the current state of the art in these fields, present open problems and engage in fruitful discussions.
The Summer Lectures in Geometry are a tradition at CAMGSD that attains in 2013 its 14th edition. Renowned mathematicians working in Geometry and related areas have lectured thematic courses in two or three session during a concentration week in the Summer period.
The Mira Fernandes Lectures on Mathematical Relativity are meant as a tribute to Aureliano de Mira Fernandes, one of the first Portuguese mathematicians to take an interest in Einstein's General Theory of Relativity. They usually consist of a short course comprising three or four one hour sessions on a theme of interest to the group of CAMGSD researchers who work on Mathematical Relativity. The sessions are open to all interested.
The main objective of this meeting is to get together mathematicians and physicists interested, either in the theoretical modelling, or in experimental aspects of aerosol science, with the goal of fostering the collaboration potential in this scientific field. The meeting is part of the scientific activities of the Mathematics of Planet Earth year.
The Iberian Strings 2013 meeting is the fourth meeting of the Iberian Strings series, which in turn superseded previous editions of the Workshop on Gravitational Aspects of Strings and Branes and of Northwest Strings. These meetings bring together a large part of the string theory community of Spain and Portugal and aim at discussing recent advances in the field of strings and branes.
This meeting, whose scope comprises Ordinary and Partial Differential Equations and related topics, aims to promote integration of researchers of both Institutes (and others), with the presentation of research works and plenary lectures of the participants.
