Workshop on Operator Theory, Complex Analysis, and Applications 2022 / WOTCA 2022

@ Universidade do Algarve, Faro, Portugal

The Workshop on Operator Theory, Complex Analysis, and Applications 2022 / WOTCA 2022 aims to bring together researchers working in Operator Theory, Complex Analysis, and their applications, namely in Mathematical Physics, and to create an opportunity to highlight the current state of the art in these fields, present open problems and engage in fruitful discussions.

This meeting follows eight previous WOTCA workshops.

Workshop Fuchsian Differential Equations

@ Department of Mathematics, Instituto Superior Técnico, Lisbon

Fuchsian Differential Equations are ordinary linear equations typically with polynomial coefficients. As such they are susceptible to algebraic and arithmetic methods.

For instance, their behaviour under reduction modulo a prime $p$ is still full of mysteries and unsolved conjectures.

We will approach the topic in a very accessible and explicit manner, looking at concrete examples, computational aspects, various conjectures, and a comparison of main techniques.

Organizer:  Herwig Hauser, Faculty of Mathematics, University of Vienna

Online Workshop "Working Groups for Women in Operator Theory 2021"

@ Lorentz Center@Online

The workshop includes a succinct overview of state-of-the-art techniques and recent trends in operator theory and its applications; intensive group problem-solving sessions with each working group led by 1-2 project leaders and involving graduate students/postdocs, early career researchers, and more experienced researchers to discuss possible strategies and solutions to open problems; structured conversations focused on career and research advancement and teaching pedagogy; and ample social periods for informal discussions. We hope to bring together women in operator theory and related fields to work collaboratively on research projects and to form a network of support through research collaborations and professional mentorship.

Organizers: Brittney Miller (Coe College), Francesca Arici (Leiden University), Fernanda Botelho (University of Memphis), Cristina Câmara (CAMGSD/IST - University of Lisbon)

Particle Systems and Partial Differential Equations – PSPDE IX

@ School of Sciences of the University of Minho

In a hybrid format with in-person and online participations, the meeting brings together active researchers working in the fields of Particle Systems and Partial Differential Equations that present their latest scientific results. We expect the participation of a vast audience, including young researchers and PhD students, and we intend to present and exploit the interdisciplinary nature of mathematics as well as its applications in various areas. The meeting includes 2 mini-courses and 15 invited talks.

Joint organization by Centro de Matemática (University of Minho), Centro de Análise Matemática, Geometria e Sistemas Dinâmicos (University of Lisbon), Centro de Matemática, Aplicações Fundamentais e Investigação Operacional (University of Lisbon) and University of Nice (France).

School on Mirror Symmetry and Moduli Spaces

MapInstituto Superior Técnico, Lisboa, Portugal

The purpose of this Workshop-School is to bring together researchers working on different mirror symmetry phenomena occuring in moduli spaces. Along with cutting-edge research talks, there will be four introductory mini courses addressed to students and young researchers in differential geometry, algebraic geometry, theoretical physics and related areas.

Trends in Operator Theory and its Applications: A Workshop for Young Researchers

MapInstituto Superior Técnico, Universidade de Lisboa

TOTA2021 is a hybrid conference, with both online and in-person talks, taking place at Instituto Superior Técnico, Universidade de Lisboa, on June 25, 2021. It will be held alongside and in coordination with WOTCA 2021.

Its main goals are to foster contact between leading mathematicians and younger researchers and to create a network of research support with ties for active collaborations.

TOTA 2021 welcomes talks by graduate students and young researchers on Operator Theory and related topics.

The meeting is supported by CAMGSD/Center for Mathematical Analysis, Geometry and Dynamical Systems of Instituto Superior Técnico, University of Lisbon, through project UID/MAT/04459/2020 and by the National Science Foundation Conference Award DMS-1956360.

Workshop on Operator Theory, Complex Analysis, and Applications 2021 - WOTCA 2021

MapInstituto Superior Técnico - University of Lisbon

This meeting aims to bring together researchers working in Operator Theory, Complex Analysis, and their applications, in particular Mathematical Physics, and to create an opportunity to highlight the current state of the art in these fields, to present open problems and to promote  collaborative discussions.

The meeting follows the line of six previous workshops, WOTCA 2010WOTCA 20122-Day OTCA 2013WOTCA 2014WOTCA 2016WOTCA 2017 and WOTCA 2018. The main difference with respect to the previous WOTCA meetings will be that we will have online talks, which we expect to be the norm, but we plan to conjugate them with some in-person talks.

The meeting is supported by CAMGSD/Center for Mathematical Analysis, Geometry and Dynamical Systems of Instituto Superior Técnico, University of Lisbon, through project UID/MAT/04459/2020.

Organizadoras: Sílvia Barbeiro (CMUC, FCTUC), Ana Cristina Casimiro (CMA, FCT NOVA), Margarida Mendes Lopes (CAMGSD, IST UL)
