https://wotca17.math.tecnico.ulisboa.pt/<p>The <em><a href="https://wotca17.math.tecnico.ulisboa.pt/">Workskop on Operator Theory, Complex Analysis, and Applications 2017 / WOTCA 2017</a> </em>will take place in Lisbon, Portugal, on 3-6 July 2017.</p>
<p>It aims to bring together researchers working in Operator Theory, Complex Analysis, and their applications, namely in Mathematical Physics, and to create an opportunity to highlight the current state of the art in these fields, present open problems and engage in fruitful discussions.</p>
<p>This meeting follows the line of five previous workshops, <a href="http://wotca2010.math.ist.utl.pt/">WOTCA 2010</a>, <a href="http://wotca.math.ist.utl.pt/index">WOTCA 2012</a>, <a href="http://twodayotca.math.ist.utl.pt/">2-Day OTCA 2013</a>, <a href="http://wotca14.math.tecnico.ulisboa.pt/">WOTCA 2014</a>, <a href="https://wotca16.math.tecnico.ulisboa.pt/">WOTCA 2016</a>.</p>

http://patriciamath.wixsite.com/patricia<p>Patrícia Gonçalves, researcher at CAMGSD and an Associate Professor at the Instituto Superior Técnico since May 2016, has been awarded an <a href="https://erc.europa.eu/sites/default/files/press_release/files/erc_press_release_stg2016_results.pdf">ERC Starting Grant</a> of 1,180,000€ for 5 years. This is the first time the European Research Council has granted this award to a mathematician working in Portugal.</p>
<p>The funded <a href="http://patriciamath.wixsite.com/patricia/hylef">research project</a> aims at characterizing the universality of the macroscopic behavior of some physical systems from underlying microscopic stochastic dynamics, by deriving the macroscopic laws, namely, (stochastic) partial differential equations, which govern the space-time evolution of the thermodynamic quantities of those physical systems.</p>
